“I believe everyone has the capacity
to recover from a mental health condition.
It just looks different for each person.”

– Mandi J Buckner

I was a senior manager in the financial services industry.
I was well positioned to move toward retirement with a
proven track record of over 30 years of dedicated service.

Then life happened. A number of personal life challenges
erupted which compounded the stressors at work. My
confidence at work ebbed day by day. I was overwhelmed
and didn’t fully understand what was happening.

I was diagnosed with major episodic depression.

I now know that with proper information and support, my
career did not have to be a casualty of depression.

What I discovered is that recovery is a process based on hope,
continual growth, occasional setbacks and a willingness to change.

Sharing my story was part of my recovery journey. As a certified peer,
I continue to share my story in a way that inspires others to confidently
and authentically reframe their own stories.
